Two newer changes to hemp production 2021 affect the THC levels and the time frame which farmers can harvest the crop. As of March 22, the USDA raised the THC crop limit from 0.3% to 1%. Something to watch for is the upcoming release of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s Cannabidiol Enforcement Policy Draft Guidance, which has fallen to the Biden administration to review. While this may not be a permanent solution, the FDA, government, and other regulatory bodies are working to amend existing hemp extract laws and find solutions that provide a national uniform CBD policy which will help consumers and hemp producers alike.
