What is Hemp Extract?
CBD is the common abbreviation for Cannabidiol, a prominent and naturally occurring chemical compound found in the cannabis plant. CBD compounds comprise up to 40% of those found in the cannabis plant, although there are over 60 other phytocompounds present in it as well. The two most common compounds found in cannabis plants are Cannabidiol (CBD) and delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). CBD is a non-psychoactive component of the plant and does not cause any intoxication, unlike THC, which is responsible for the intoxicating effects found in marijuana. This is important to note because CBD will not impair your mental state or your ability to function and perform everyday tasks in any way. Recent studies of many large and popular CBD distributors have shown that many products advertised as “THC Free” may actually contain large quantities of THC, and many products that advertise large quantities of CBD content actually have no CBD in them at all! CBD is currently one of the most studied and recognized cannabis compounds due to its prevalence in the plant and due to its non-psychoactive properties, and current science is showing that it may possess a very wide range of health benefits. The human body possesses an endocannabinoid system for the absorption of compounds like CBD and may be able to use CBD to trigger myriad health benefits such as the maintenance of or restoration of healthy cells throughout the body and in areas of dysfunction.
CBD is a lipophilic molecule, meaning it is attracted to lipids, fats, and oils. It does not dissolve well in water, if at all. If CBD is not attached to some sort of fatty molecule, like the pure multichain triglycerides oil (MCT) we use to add to our extract here at Honeysuckle Scientific, it will have an very low absorption rate and most of it will simply pass through the digestive system and out of the body without ever being assimilated into the body through the liver. Different CBD products exist based on how the CBD dose will be delivered to the body. These different options are important so customers can determine which method is the most appropriate for his or her desires and/or dosage and treatment needs. A CBD vaporizer will deliver a CBD dose almost instantly, a CBD oil based extract will deliver a predictable dose over a longer amount of time but is very consistent and predictable, and a topical cream CBD product will release a medium range dose of CBD over a longer time period and generally to a targeted area close to the placement of the cream.
To assure that a customer gets the best delivery and most predictable absorption when taking a CBD supplement, it is critical that he or she selects a brand like Honeysuckle Scientific that is dedicated to quality above all else.
